Why We Retired the Bouncy Chair

I LOVE bouncy chairs. They were my salvation when I exclusively pumped because I could set Nora in it with a toy and bounce her if she got fussy while I pumped. With Emmitt, who ONLY takes cat naps, it's the best way to get him quickly from breast to sleep so that I could enjoy twenty minutes of work.

It was also great because I'd sit him in there while I cooked dinner and he'd watch me quite happily as I wandered around the kitchen getting things done.

But alas, I think our bouncy chair days are over...

I was expecting to see something terrible, like E bouncing right OUT of the chair. Thank goodness he's just too big and no babies were hurt in the filming of that video!

My nephew flipped his bouncy and tried crawling away like a turtle.

Uhhhh, where's the part where he fall s on his face?

Wow! Him falling on his face in church was an ACCIDENT! What type of mom would I be if I tried to get him to do it on purpose just so that I could blog it.

Geeze, I'm not that mean. (Ok, so I *thought* about it, but I didn't actually DO it...)

What I actually thought would happen was that he'd reach far enough forward to turn the music on. That's what he'd been trying to do all day.

    Would have been funny.

Oh well. Who expects a five month old to cooperate?

How cute! Mathias is a chub, 21lbs at 6mos so his bouncy has been retired for a bout 2 mos. I just retired the swing this week because his weight would stop the swing when he leaned forward to play with the tray toys. Kinda depressing, isn't it??

Oh that little guy is just too stinkin' cute. :)

I'm here by way of . . . oh, I don't even remember . . but I love our bouncy chair more than I can say . . yes, at this time it needs to be retired but do not put it away for good yet . . . once they are able to walk the bouncy chair is a favorit again . . . cause it's BOUNCY and my 19month old has claimed his old one as "his" chair. It also has worked wonders when this same child suffers from croup and needs to sleep more vertically.

This is sort of unrelated, but my son has the same sleeper. Everytime I see a picture of someone's infant boy, I always have that outfit.. and he doesnt even have that many clothes!
