This is why I am so excited for spring...

That's across the street from my house. On the right side of the image, the creek (which sounds funny since it's 20 or 30 foot across) drops over an 8 foot dam. It was warm enough to open the windows in the living room yesterday and I could hear the water rushing over the dam.

When it gets warmer, we'll be able to leave the windows open at night and we can fall asleep the the sound of rushing water.

It's absolutely awesome.

Hurry up Spring! I'm done with snow.

I thought spring had hit Rhode Island...the past two days it's been gorgeous. Then today...snow dumped everywhere. The poor buds on the trees!

That creek is a good 100 feet across.

    Really? 100 feet? Ya think?

I really don't think it's that far...maybe 40 feet... Of course I've only stood at the endge of it once.

Now I'm gonna have to haul my butt down that hill and make an estimate. It's surely not 100 feet though...

And now SNOW the last two days. And to think we rushed back from Florida for this. Okay, jobs and real life responsibility had a little to do with it too... Sigh..spring will come soon, and I'll be able to get out of the house without the bundling routine.

Dude, a softball pitcher is 40 feet away from a batter. Don't you think a pitcher would stand closer to you than across that creek to pitch you a ball?

Sorry, that's how I think of distance. Distance across water is much longer than it looks

Yeah, the creek is probably 100 feet across near the dam. But 100 yards either way of the dam, the creek shrinks to maybe 20 feet across - and shallow.
